BACK TO SCHOOL: NAVIGATING NEW BEGINNINGS AND CAPTURING MEMORIES

As the golden days of summer start to wind down, the excitement (and perhaps a touch of nerves) of a new school year takes over. Whether your child is heading to school for the first time or returning after the summer break, the transition can bring a mix of emotions. Today, we’re going to discuss some tips to ease the back-to-school transition, particularly for first-time students, and how you can commemorate this milestone with a ‘back to school’ session at our studio.

Preparing Your Child for School for the First Time

  1. Start a School Routine Early: A few weeks before school starts, gradually shift your child’s sleeping and eating schedules to match the school timings. This helps them adjust to the new routine and reduces the shock of early wake-ups.

  2. Visit the School: If possible, take your child to visit their new school before the term begins. Familiarise them with the surroundings, show them their classroom, and where the toilets are. This can alleviate a lot of first-day anxiety.

  3. Meet the Teacher: Meeting the teacher before school starts can be hugely reassuring for your child. It gives them a chance to connect with the teacher in a less formal setting, which can make the transition easier.

  4. Talk About School Positively: Talk about school enthusiastically and focus on the fun aspects – making friends, playing, and learning new things. Encourage your child to express their feelings and reassure them that it’s okay to feel a little nervous.

  5. Practice Independence: Encourage your child to practice tasks like packing their school bag, using the toilet, opening their lunchbox, fastening their shoes, and other activities they’ll need to manage at school. This helps build their confidence and self-reliance.

ANTICIPATING YOUR SEPTEMBER BABY: YOUR NEWBORN PORTRAIT SESSION

Newborn photography Liverpool

As a professional portrait photographer, I’ve had the immense joy of capturing some of life’s most precious moments, and none are quite as magical as the arrival of a newborn. Did you know that September is one of the highest birth-rate months of the year? If you are currently in your third trimester and expecting your little one in September, it’s time to think about booking your newborn portrait session.

Why Book a Newborn Portrait Session?

The newborn phase is fleeting, with babies changing and growing each day. Newborn photography allows you to capture those first few weeks of life, preserving the tiny details – those little fingers and toes, the soft curl of their hair, the peaceful moments of sleep, and the first attempts at wide-eyed curiosity. You don’t really know how precious this time is until many months later. I meet so many parents who tell me they wished they’d had newborn portraits done.

Booking Early: Secure Your September Slot

Given the high birth rate in September, I experience a surge in demand for newborn sessions. To ensure you secure a slot, it’s essential to book early, ideally before your baby arrives. It’s one less thing to worry about in those busy first weeks of parenthood. You can contact me to check if I have availability around your due date here, or WhatsApp me on 07845501654.

How to Book Your Session?

  1. Contact the Studio: Get in touch with us via email or phone. We’ll guide you through the process, answer any questions you might have, and help you secure a tentative slot based on your due date.

  2. Before the Session: We’ll have a detailed conversation about your preferences – colours, poses, props, or any specific concepts you want to incorporate. If you wish to be included in the portraits or include other family members, we’ll discuss outfit choices and make sure everything is customised for you. September allows us to use so many beautiful autumnal colours and props – you can see more of those in my galleries here

  3. Flexibility: We understand that babies operate on their own schedule. If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, we will adjust your booking accordingly.

  4. The Session: Our goal is to create a calm, soothing environment for your baby. We work at your baby’s pace, allowing plenty of time for feeding, changing, and comforting. Newborn safety and comfort are my top priorities.

  5. After the Session: Once the session is over, we will work on perfecting your images. Then, we’ll arrange a viewing for you to select your favourite images. These can be turned into a variety of beautiful products such as prints, wall art, photo books, or a digital album.

With all the anticipation and excitement of your approaching due date, it’s easy to overlook planning for a newborn portrait session. But remember, those first few weeks will pass in a blur, and there’s a unique magic in those early days that’s worth capturing. So, get ahead of the September rush and secure your newborn session today. Let’s freeze those precious moments, creating a timeless keepsake that you and your family will cherish forever.

The journey of pregnancy is one filled with profound transformation, anticipation, and a deep love that begins long before you hold your little one in your arms. A maternity photoshoot is a beautiful way to document this special time. In this blog, let's delve into the magic of maternity photos and how to prepare for your session.

The Significance of Maternity Photos

Maternity photos are more than just pretty pictures; they're a celebration of the strength, beauty, and love that blossoms within you during this transformative time. These images capture your radiant glow, the gentle curves of your growing belly, and the intense emotions of anticipation and love that fill your heart.

Timing Is Everything

The ideal time for a maternity session is between 28 and 34 weeks of your pregnancy. During this period, your beautiful bump is clearly visible, and you're likely to still feel comfortable for the session.

Choosing Your Outfit

Loose, flowy dresses, fitted gowns that highlight your belly, or even a simple top paired with maternity jeans can work perfectly. Choose outfits that reflect your personal style and make you feel confident and beautiful. I have a small collection of maternity gowns and fabric available for you to wear during your session, or you may have seen on the website, I also do silhouette / implied nude images if this is some thing you'd like to consider.

Including Loved Ones

Including your partner, or any other children you may have, can add a beautiful dynamic to your photos. These images capture the shared anticipation and excitement for the new arrival, creating treasured family memories.

Relax and Enjoy

Remember, the goal of a maternity photoshoot is not just about creating beautiful photographs; it's about celebrating this extraordinary period of anticipation, change, and love in your life. Relax, be yourself, and let your inner glow shine through.
